PART ONE:
1. Reflect on the examples and discussion of various problems in nursing arising from personal issues that can be experienced in the work place. Select one or two issues that are disruptive to the workplace from the list provided below, and describe how the manager should deal with the issue.

2. Comment on how the steps of documentation, progressive discipline, and perhaps termination could be implemented if the manager were dealing with the situations described.
PART TWO:
1. Review the definitions of culture and the practice of cultural humility. Describe the cultures served by hospitals - remember that the concept of culture can include lifestyle, belief systems and language as well as ethnicity. Include both patients (communities) served, and also staff composition in the response
Review the action plan and public statement of the Mayo Clinic as an example of what is possible given intentional leadership on the topic of a diverse workforce and service to a diverse public.
2. Given the nurse manager's role in promoting inclusion and avoiding implicit bias. Provide some examples where healthcare organizations, unit, or team has addressed these elements successfully or unsuccessfully.
3. What actions are needed for success and support in these areas? Who should be involved in creating an atmosphere of inclusion - managers, staff, patients, families, community leaders - others?? and explain why?
