b. In Gillian's case, disrespect is defined as cursing at staff and making the staff angry by walking away during discussions.

If there's a loud noise outside the classroom, he'll just interrupt whatever we're doing and run to the window. I think he doesn't have any limits at home. And when other kids accidentally bump into him, he reacts by turning and yelling at them."

b. This teacher describes Emilio's disruptive behavior. "Emilio's behavior is mostly a problem during independent work or when the students are supposed to work quietly. He slaps at his desk really loud and makes noises with his mouth. Emilio also talks to the other kids around him and it upsets them because they don't want to get into trouble. I think he's trying to get my attention."
