This lecture covered the definition of social inequalities, the social factors that lead to social inequalities, and how social organizations shape individuals and society. The constructs of power, prestige, and wealth were examined as they relate to social inequality. The social factors of prejudice and discrimination, economic inequality, and gender inequality have on individuals. The severe implications of poverty, education inequality, and lack of access to high-quality healthcare have on individuals. Finally, the role that social organizations play including volunteering. Social inequalities affect everyone in society either directly or indirectly. Keeping all aspects of social inequalities in mind, please respond to the following prompts:

1. State which social inequality affects you either directly or indirectly and explain how it has impacted your life.

2. List all the places that you have volunteered and explain what benefits you received from the experience. If you have never volunteered, look up an organization you would consider volunteering for and state why you chose it.
