Questions - What is your own definition of mental health? What are three things that will promote good mental health?

Answers - I think mental health is the ability to deal with stress and everyday life events. This definition leaves room for positive or good mental health (when you are able to deal with everyday life and stress successfully) and negative or poor mental health (when you are not able to cope with stress or handle everyday life occurrences). I think there are varying degrees of mental health and I think society is too judgmental on what is considered good mental health and what is considered inappropriate or deficient mental health.
I believe good mental health is achieved through stress management, effective emotional support and good health. I think they are all tied together. Lifescript agrees with the importance of these 3 things in good mental health. In their 2007 article, 5 Tips For Good Mental Health they list following 5 things to help promote good mental health. "1. Strive for a balanced schedule; 2. Eat healthy; 3. Exercise daily; 4. Cultivate your artistic side; and 5. Make friends and develop a social life" (Alexander, 2007).

Question - Nice job on this. Mental health can definitely be something that we all should pay close attention to. How can you use your experience and knowledge about mental health to be a positive thing?

Criteria - No word limit and no page requirement.
