Does your organization have expatriates? If so, how does the organization handle the transitions to and from foreign assignments?

In the Marine Corps, we have a Marine Corps Order on sponsorship. It's intent is to provide the service member and family the best for welfare and morale which influence career motivation. This program is designed for single or Married Marines. Expatriates are people who live outside there native country. Being in the military, we are subject to expatriates. For the purpose of this post, I will keep it only non-combat related. In the Marine Corps we have locations we can be stationed overseas. Iwakuni Japan, Okinawa Japan, Korea, Germany and Bahrain are a few. Most common is Okinawa, Japan. This duty station is family oriented and has a lot of good things for Marines to do. There are challenges with rules and laws of the host country. We have a good program designed to sponsor Marines and there families transitioning overseas. This process includes getting them housing, a vehicle, spouse assistance with a job and helping them get medical care as needed. As soon as that person arrives on island, they are greeted by sponsor and shown around. Until they get driving privileges, they will be taken everywhere needed. Not only is it designed to get Marines overseas, but the sponsorship program applies to all stateside duty stations.
