You are the HIM Assistant Director for Plaza Medical Center. One of your duties is to monitor the DNFB and ensure that it is maintained below $500,000 at any given point. You have been successful in maintaining it at the target number for quite some time. During the past few months, however, your numbers have gone up significantly and discharged, not final billed (DNFB) is at its highest that it has ever been. During your last revenue cycle meeting, the V.P of Patient Financial Services requested that you identify three performance improvement tools which could assist the facility in regaining control of the DNFB.

A summary of the DNFB issue with an explanation of what DNFB is and how it affects healthcare facilities;

Identifying and defining three performance improvement (PI) tools that could be used to resolve the issue presented;
