Question: Why. In particular, baggage fees have been one of the defining aspects of this revenue model as airlines can balance operational costs and compete on headline fares while creating an additional monetizable service. On the other hand, a number of factors determine whether this source is sustainable or not including changing preferences among consumers as well as regulatory changes in the market competition and technological advancements (Inan, 2018). Although it is expected that baggage fees will remain a steady revenue-generating opportunity for airline business in the short term, this industry must adjust its approaches to fluctuating consumer needs.
