1. In the beginning of this class I defined Cultural Competence as being aware and understanding my culture, while acknowledging the differences between my culture and others. My definition has changed in the way now that I see Cultural Competence as something a bit different. Cultural Competence to me means the ability to understand and respect the difference of values, beliefs, morals, and attitudes across many other cultures. Cultural Competence isn't just about the knowledge of one, but the understanding and respect of many others.

2. I believe this class is important in the way that it provides a gateway for business majors to understand the many differences between cultures, If a business major goes on to join the corporate world, this class is a good starting point. One is likely to encounter many cultures in business. To be successful in business effectively understanding and working with different cultures is a must to be profitable and this class provides a good start.

3. In the automotive industry specifically with repairs, I deal with customers with vast cultural backgrounds. I know even more that while being polite and respectful can do the trick, understanding the person in front of me will help tremendously. I can apply the concepts by analyzing briefly my interactions with others and being patient and listening intently to better understand the various cultures I interact with.By remembering the difference between my culture and the many others I will deal with. I can apply the concepts by analyzing encounters with various cultures I may interact with. I am able to apply the concepts by becoming a better listener and promoting more interaction between myself and others from various cultural backgrounds.
