Most of the chemical reactions are accompanied by inter-phase mass and heat transfer for bringing out a desired chemical change with the inter play of fluid dynamics and mixing of various components which are all complicated because of changes in physico-chemical characteristics of the reaction mixtures with the progress of chemical conversions. Hence, these operations will have to handle multiphase systems. This results in using a variety of chemical reactors in process operations. Choose any one chemical process industry, and describe various types of reactors used in that Industry. Diagrams and neat flow sheets may be included wherever they are relevant The student should critically anlyse the use of a particular type of reactor in the chosen process industry, and explain what would have been the effect of using any other type of reactor.
