Analysis of RGB low pass filtered video PAM signalA video signal consists of three components, R, G and B. Each component has a bandwidth that extends from 0 Hz to 4.2 MHz. The signals are each sampled to create PAM signals and then digitized by analog to digital converters (ADCs) that have 6 bits. The digital signal is multiplexed into a serial bit stream and transmitted to a distant location where it is demultiplexed and converted to parallel words in three separate R, B, and G channels. Each channel is input to a digital to analog converter (DAC). The output of each DAC is passed through a low pass filter. You may assume the low pass filters are ideal.
a. The sampling rate for each signal is to be 1.2 times the Nyquist rate. What is the sampling frequency and the bit rate of the serial bit stream after the ADCs?
b. What is the maximum bandwidth of the low pass filters at the receiving end of the link? What bandwidth would you recommend for the LPFs?
c. What is the quantization SNR of the R, B and G signals at the output of each low pass filter?
d. The bit rate of the signal transmitted over the link to the receiver is higher than the rate you calculated in part (a) above. Why?
