AmberCraft Toy Company manufactures, sells, and distributes toys in eight (8) western states. The company has the following job classifications.

Supervisors

Truckers

AmberCraft has four manufacturing plants (with about 300 employees in each) located in California (San Diego, Fresno, Oakland, and Fort Bragg). BEST union wants to organize the AmberCraft employees in the San Diego location. AmberCraft has no previous union history. Each location is largely run independently by a plant manager, but all personnel policies are set by the central office in Fresno. Hiring and other labor activities are conducted by the plant managers.

Answer each of the following questions, thoroughly explaining your answer. Your Activity responses should be both grammatically and mechanically correct and formatted in the same fashion as the Activity itself. If there is a Part A, your response should identify a Part A, etc. In addition, you must appropriately cite all resources used in your response and document them in a bibliography using APA style.(A 2-page response is required for the combination of Parts A, B, and C.)

Part A - Does the San Diego plant meet the four 1995 NLRB rules for one employer, multiple locations? Explain.

Part B - Do you think that the San Diego plant is an appropriate unit? Explain.

Part C - If BEST were organizing all four (4) sites, which job classifications could be combined into the appropriate bargaining unit(s)? Discuss three alternative combinations and give the rationale for each. Discuss the reasons employees in certain job classifications would likely be excluded from any or all of the combinations you have identified. Provide the rationale for each part of your response.
