Assignment:
Aim / Purpose
According to Douglas Gayeton, True Cost Accounting (TCA) is 'a practice that accounts for all external costs - including environmental, social and economic - generated by the creation of a product.' The external costs mentioned here are those incurred by an uninvolved party.
True Cost Accounting is thought to be a useful tool in revealing hidden costs, and as such, helpful in the decision making for effective policy and responsible consumption.
This assignment will help us better understand the actual costs of the consumer goods that we purchase by considering the external costs not factored into the price of those goods at the time of purchase.
