  3. Please give examples of ageism you've seen in the media.
  4. In the movie, "Up," there are many instances of ageism and/or stereotyping. Regarding older adults, please give 3 instances of stereotyping and 1 instance of ageism from the beginning, 3 instances of ageism and 1 instance of stereotyping from the middle and 3 instances of stereotyping and one instance of ageism from the end of the film and label them as ageism or stereotyping.
  5. Tell what theories of aging you think fit Carl and how you came to that conclusion? Do you think Carl fit under more than one theory, and if so, why?
  6. Depression affects many older adults. What might you suggest to older adults to ward off depression? In your opinion, was Carl depressed in the film, "Up," and what led to his depression, and how did you come to that conclusion?
  7. What is your favorite part of this film as it relates to aging and why, and what is your least favorite part of this film as it relates to aging and why?
  8. What is the definition of functional age and how is it measured? In what ways is functional age biased?
  9. Discuss age discrimination in the health care system, providing specific examples.
