Question: At Emergent Biosciences, Ken was in charge of sales before being moved to a higher-ranking position in the company's administration. He oversaw the company's top accounts and the salespeople that dealt with them. Instead of setting personal objectives or making friends among his coworkers, his new employer instructed him to focus on helping others succeed. Ken, however, was not in agreement with his boss's instruction, and he chose to take the lead by proving his need and aptitude for achievement. It became clear over time that he was a terrible boss who had no influence on his staff. They believed they had been given little tasks to complete. He never showed appreciation and just gave negative feedback. Additionally, the workplace was disorganized, unclear, and chaotic.
