Define the rf value for methylene blue

When using 65% ethanol in a trial of thin layer chromatography, the rf values were virtually identical for methylene blue and fluorescine. When using 95% ethanol, the rf value for methylene blue was a lot larger than the rf value for fluorescine. Why does this happen?
