Question: Health Promotion Program, Part B: Needs AssessmentThe next step in developing your 10-20 minute health promotion program is to identify the learning needs assessment. Use the information in this chapter, to develop and conduct a needs assessment of 3-5 persons meeting the criteria of the target audience to submit your results. You can conduct this with each person individually or get them together as a small focus group. The needs assessment should be a short interview or survey to determine what the clients' major concerns are related to the Healthy People 2020 goal and objective you have selected to focus on for this project as well as their overall knowledge in the area.

Please answer the following questions about your assessment of learner needs and Setting

A. Define the problem or the educational need

B. Develop a tool to assess the learning needs of you audience. This tool can be a true-false test about the items you intend to teach. One of your questions should ask "What would you like to know about the topic?" Use your learner objectives as a guide. Also please ask how the learner learns best. Please scan and turn in the copies of your completed tool. The information gained in this assessment will allow you to level the education appropriately.

C. Determine and describe what is driving this need for training/learning.

• Existing knowledge base based on the results of needs assessment

• What do they want to know?

D. Describe the clients you used to conduct the needs assessment.

• Demographic characteristics

• Learning style/Literacy Needs

E. Assess the Learning environment where you will teach

• Will you have access to a computer, computer screen?

• Have you gotten permission to teach at this sight?

• What will you leave with the facility about your topic?
