You just being hired and starting your new role. As you learn the business and the team, you have been asked to present presentation to the leadership team you support on your people plan for the next months.

You have the  presentation on your 90 day in the role, so you have to take actions to learn the business and people needs as soon as possible and present a presentation of 10 minutes about what does the next year look like for you and the HR team.

What would you do to learn and build trust and credibility in the next days?

How do you define the people and business priorities? what metrics and data do you need?

Build a ppt of few slides to present your proposed plan to the LT.

Grades will be given as per in person presentation during class (10 minutes) and ppt submitted

use the below Job description to understand the role mandate and trend analysis on the industry, country, globally etc to guide you. (I.e. great resignation, covid, etc impacting your company).

You can "make up" some information, data or numbers for your company, i.e.  you learned about the last engagement results and have analyze the data and as a result suggest action.

HR Head Role

This is a dynamic role, where you will have the opportunity to be both hands on and strategic, operating as a true generalist providing expertise in all areas of people, talent management and culture. We are looking for a strategist who can understand the business, pivot quickly, and execute.

As the first HR hire, you will lead the day-to-day HR functions including, employee relations, on-boarding, disciplinary matters, talent management, training and development, compensation and benefits reviews, recruiting, policies and practices. We are looking for a Director of People who will elevate our recruiting and employee development experience.

You will be reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with other department heads to fill roles, improve employee experience and build culture.

What You'll Be Doing

Culture:

  • Build culture to improve employee experience
  • Identify and utilize employee metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives
  • Develop and update policies and company guidelines in accordance with provincial regulation
  • Develop and implement scorecards, and performance review cadences
  • Consult on people decisions
  • Develop benefits strategy and budgets

Recruitment:

  • Develop and implement a holistic recruiting strategy for all levels of the company
  • Directly support hiring managers in their recruiting efforts
  • Oversee administration of recruitment process (postings, scheduling etc.)

Org Design:

  • Work with CEO, COO to plan a scaling company org plan
  • Analyze data and industry trends to guide recommendations on strategy and compensation philosophy

Onboarding:

  • Directly support hiring managers to design company wide and role specific onboarding experiences
  • Develop job descriptions and employee contracts
  • Liaise with employment lawyer and outside payroll company
  • Develop and manage bonus and recognition programs

You are a good fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of HR experience
  • Deep care for humans
  • Has worked with and understands all people systems
  • Is passionate about people development and has a proven track record of succession planning
  • Experience with wholesale, retail or CPG brands
  • Growth (20+ hires in a single year)
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing talent, cultural development, performance management, compensation planning, total rewards, employee relations
  • Extremely organized
  • Experience advising and coaching senior executives within an organization, influencing strategy at the leadership level
