Project Part 1

Tasks:

1. Begin work on the project in Week 1 of the course to ensure that you have sufficient time to complete the project.

2. Identify a research issue, opportunity, or problem from one or more of the suggested Internet sites provided below or another source approved by your instructor. The data gathered from the suggested sites or other approved source should consist of at least 30 or more observations of ratio or interval scale data. This issue or problem will serve as the basis for this and subsequent parts, so be sure to obtain instructor approval before starting your project.

3. Write a two-page paper describing your selected research issue or problem.

4. Include a definition of your selected issue or problem using quantifiable measures.

5. Include the following information for addressing or finding a solution to your selected issue or problem:

o Purpose of the research
- Describe the research problem.
- Explain why the research problem is important.
o Definition of the problem
- Explain what questions you are answering by your research.
o Research content
- Explain three possible outcomes of this research.
- Provide operational definitions for each variable.
- Identify the variables to be tested.
- Define the level of measurement for each variable.
- Define the measurement scale for each variable.

Project Part 2

Tasks:
1. In the DWC library, locate at least four peer-reviewed, scholarly research articles that are relevant to your research topic.

2. Write a two to four page paper having the following components:
o Review of the literature
- Summarize the peer-reviewed articles.
- Describe how the articles apply to your research topic.
o Sampling design
- Define the population from which your samples came.
- Explain whether or not the sample size is appropriate for this research topic.
o Data collection
- Display your data in both tabular and graphical formats.

Project Part 3

Tasks:

1. Write a two to four page paper that examines the data you have collected and draws conclusions based on your findings.

2. Include the following:
o Data analysis using descriptive statistics
- Calculate the measures of central tendency, dispersion, and skew for your data.
- Display your descriptive statistical data using graphic and tabular techniques such as frequency distribution, histogram, and pie charts.
- Based on your skew value and histogram, discuss the best measures of central tendency and dispersion of your data. Justify your selection.
o Conclusions
- Discuss whether your research findings answered your problem statement-the research question-or if more research might be necessary.

Project Part 4

Tasks:
1. Use the ratio or interval numerical data from the data collected for your project.

2. Develop one research question from which you will formulate a research hypothesis.

3. Prepare a two to four page paper describing the results of a hypothesis test of one or two population means or population proportions.

4. In your paper:
o Formulate a numerical hypothesis statement and a verbal hypothesis statement regarding your research issue.
o Perform a hypothesis test on your data.
o Describe the results of your test and explain how the findings from this hypothesis testing may be used to answer your research question.

5. Include your raw data tables and the results of the computations of your z-test or t-test using graphical and tabular methods of displaying data and results.

Project Part 5

Tasks:
1. Use the ratio or interval numerical data from your collected data for this project.

2. Develop one research question and formulate a hypothesis that may be tested with ANOVA, correlation, or linear regression analysis.

3. Prepare a two to four page paper describing the results of the analysis on your collected data.

4. In your paper:
o Formulate a hypothesis statement regarding your research issue.
o Perform an ANOVA, correlation, or linear regression hypothesis test on the data.
o Interpret the results of your analysis.

5. Include your raw data tables and the results of your computations in your paper, using graphical and tabular methods of displaying data and results.
