Question: First, read the following report from the Pew Research Center about post-September 11th attitudes towards security in the United States: Balancing Act: National Security and Civil Liberties in Post-9/11 Era

The language of the Fourth Amendment is quite clear in that it does not ban all searches and seizures by government and/or law enforcement officials, it only prohibits searches and seizures deemed by a court to be "unreasonable." Keeping this in mind, please respond to the following statement, indicating (of course) whether you agree or disagree with the statement and why:

"In a post-September 11th world, in order to ensure the safety of all Americans, we can not only expect more searches of our persons (and seizures of contraband) at our airports, we should demand it. We, as a nation, should be willing to voluntarily relinquish a certain level of our civil rights in order to ensure our nation's security."
