Topic: You are pitching a video concept to a group of busy campus administrators who will be making a decision on whethe to create this video message in-house or with an outside production agency. You want them to consider your skills, but they will need convincing. Using a Seven-Step Method (see categories below) create an awareness campaign targeted to Sam University students, faculty and staff for a public nuisance, health-related or other issue of your choosing. Develop your campaign and address each of the following. Be persuasive!
Questions:
1. Define the Communication Problem - what is the problem as we know it (generally for public at large, at national college level, or specifically at Sam Houston State University based on your research)
2. Define the Target Audience - to whom is your message targeted?
3. Define the Objective - Overall goals - what are you trying to accomplish with this video?
4. Define the Strategy - What strategies will you use to appeal to your target audience? Emotional appeals? Fear? Humor? Will statistics on drug/alcohol abuse be used? Statistics? Accident rates? Facts? Figures?
5. Define the Content -walk a listener through the video concept
6. Define the Appropriate Medium - Television? ALSO, will the campaign coincide with any 'months' such as Drug Awareness Month, etc. - Will this air on Web, social media such as Twitter or Facebook ) - you may want to give an idea of campus viewership or Facebook and Twitter user base. Will it be pushed-out to students via email and other means?
7. Define the Concept & Creative Idea - further detail what will happen in the video (think of it as a detailed concept for a storyboard in written form)
