Antibiotic resistance is a wide spread public health issue. Explain why resistance develops so quickly, spreads so rapidly and widely, and is so hard to eradicate. Describe how the R plasmid is involved in the spread of multiple antibiotic resistance, and how the F factor plays a role. Next, describe three specific mechanismsof antibiotic resistance.
