Critical Thinking

It has been 4 years since Janet's graduation from the Smith School and got her dream job working for Terrapin Associates Inc. (TAI), a world leader in IT Consulting. Janet have worked so hard to get assigned to lead the next major project for her employer. The project is for the US subsidiary of European Motor Company (EMC), a Belgian auto manufacturer which is headquartered in Brussel, Belgium. TAI is counting on Janet to make that project a success story as it will open great opportunities for TAI with EMC in the US and Europe. Janet is very appreciative of the trust placed on her by her boss (James), and the responsibility that she carries for her employer. Due to the tough competition in the European auto market, EMC started its operation in the US 2 years ago and is very eager to win a respected market share in the lucrative US auto market. EMC introduced a mid-size family sedan "The Trojan", which fits a growing market segment in the US and meets the stringent US emission standards. The project went smoothly for 6 months until one of Janet's analysts (Diane) walked into her office requesting an urgent meeting. During the systems analysis phase, Diane was interviewing Hugh from Engineering at EMC who confined to her that his employer fudged the emission tests in order to get the car to the market before the competition. Hugh is also concerned that he may not be covered by US laws that protect a "Whistle Blower" since he is not a US Citizen.
