This content introduced different steps one may take to ensure the quality and integrity of collected data. With any project, consideration must be given to how privacy, confidentiality, and security of data will be maintained.

Note: Use your DNP capstone project from NUR 704 or your MSN Collaborative Project as examples.

1. In your own words define the terms confidentiality and anonymity. Include an example of each in your response.

Confidentiality is securely protecting an individual identifying information, whereas anonymity is the act of maintaining non-identifying information. Both terms involve collecting and analyzing data or patient information.

2. Discuss how data retrieved from a health system database can be de-identified prior to viewing. Identify the role of an honest broker if one is used in this process. Describe how de-identification supports privacy and confidentiality.

3. Identify at least two strategies the DNP-prepared clinicians could use to ensure the accuracy of data being collected in the case study.

Confidentiality is securely protecting an individual identifying information, whereas anonymity is the act of maintaining non-identifying information. Both terms involve collecting and analyzing data or patient information.
