Use your knowledge of chemical tests to help me analyze my notes and determine what kind of substance is in each of the bottles.Bottle one: The chemical is soluble in conc. Sulfuric acid. There was a brown precipitate with cold dilute potassium permanganate and the purple color disappeared. IR spectroscopy revealed a peak at 1674 cm.
Bottle two: The chemical was soluble in water and turned blue litmus paper red. I detected the presence of carbon dioxide when I dissolved it into aqueous sodium bicarbonate.
Bottle three: The chemical is soluble in conc. Sulfuric acid. There was no apparent reaction in the presence of cold dilute potassium permanganate. When exposed to chromic oxide in aqueous sulfuric acid the mixer changed from a clear orange to a greenish-opaque solution. Cloudiness appeared after 3 minutes with Lucas reagent added.
Bottle Four: The compound produced a green flame when burnt and a white precipitate formed when ethanolic silver nitrate was added. In addition, a solution of chromic acid changed from an orange color to clear as a green precipitate formed when compound was added. In the presence of 2, 4- dinitrophenylhydrazine a red precipitate formed.
