Sodium cyclamate, NaC6H12NSO3, was a popular nonsugar sweetener until it was banned by the Food and Drug Administration. Its sweetness is about 30 times that of sugar (or sucrose, C12H22O11). The energy that can be supplied by ingestion of each compound is 16.03 kJ/g for sodium cyclamate and 16.49 kJ/g for sucrose. What is the energy savings in Calories resulting from using 1.00 g of sodium cyclamate in place of 30.0 g of sucrose?
