Health and Human Right Resource defines patient care as "the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of physical and mental well-being through services offered by health professionals." I could not agree more with HHRRs definition of patient care, most specifically the idea that patient care revolves around the physical and mental well-being of a patient. As healthcare providers, it is imperative that we take an oath, not only to provide the utmost care for patients' physical state, but to assure the patient's mental health is stable. With a profession like Physical Therapy, the quality of patient care is equally as important as obtaining a degree, licensure, and certifications to actually practice.

This is a big part of why I loved the idea of pursuing a career in physical therapy, because not only do you get to rehabilitate patients back to a healthy functioning lifestyle, but you get to connect with someone on a more personal level, then say a surgeon ever could. As a Physical Therapist, you stay by your patient's side their entire journey of recovery. Therefore, their victories are your victories which builds a connection that is essential for success. After realizing how important quality patient care is, I wanted to dive deep into what patient care looks like in the world of Physical Therapy today.
