For one of these issues create 3 maps in Social Explorer (they can be dot density, bubbles, or shaded area)
These maps should use the STATE scale (continental U.S./lower 48)
Write a long reflection about these maps which includes:
a) What problem are you trying to solve/ shed light on with these maps?
b) Why did you choose these variables to map? Are in the same year? Different years? Why?
c) What style did you choose (dot density, bubbles, or shaded area)? Why did you make these choices?
d) What were the classification schemes you used (for one of the maps)? What method? Number of categories? Why did you use them?
I am referring to the 'edit cutpoints' menu for classification type and number of classes.
e) Define MAUP and Ecological Fallacy
f) Explain how one of these concepts affects how one of your maps is interpreted
g) What story would you like to tell with your map? How would you define the nature of the problem these maps illustrate?
