In computing the theoretical yield of alum, it is presumed that all of the aluminum is converted to alum---aluminum is the limiting reactant. Carry out the subsequent calculations to determine if this is a valid assumption.

1) Define how many ml of water density 1.0 g/ml are needed to supply the water in the alum formed from 1.1g of aluminum?

2) A student used 1.1056g of scrap aluminum and initially isolated 11.3588g of alum. Explain what was the percent yield?
