Read Chapters 6 and 7 in your textbook, "Changes that Heal"
1. Based on the text, define boundaries and why they are important.
2. Identify and describe three aspects of ourselves that represent areas of "property" that God has entrusted people with in Chapter 6. Discuss why these areas are important to take ownership of and how boundary choices in these areas can affect a person's life.
3. Describe how boundaries are developed and what some of the consequences can be when they are not adequately developed.
4. Identify and briefly describe a client at your agency. Based on your understanding of the reading this week, provide an assessment of his or her boundaries. Provide a brief boundaries assessment summary using 2 or more areas of boundaries described in the text.
5. Also, for at least one area in the client's life where boundaries are not working well or have not been developed well, what impact do you see this having on his or her life and relationships? Be specific and explain why. What role might the person's culture play in his or her approach to boundaries? What is helpful or unhelpful about the cultural influences?
6. Based on where the client is at currently with boundaries identify and describe how you might best engage the client. What dangers might be present for you as a social worker based on the client's boundary problems? What resistance might you encounter? How will knowledge of boundaries help you better approach and be better prepared to respond?
