Course Description

This course introduces students to the theory and practice of Knowledge Based Systems (KBS). The course considers tasks in knowledge sharing and knowledge engineering that can help students acquire the expert domain knowledge from one or more human experts. This course also considers intelligent databases that can be used to make decisions.

Course Objectives

The objectives of this course are to

• Introduce students to the concepts of knowledge based systems

• Introduce students to the logic of integrating knowledge in database systems

• Enable students acquire knowledge in expert systems

Expected learning Outcomes

By the end of this course a student should be able to

• Define and knowledge based system and distinguish it from other expert systems

• Explain the use of knowledge based systems in the current global perspective

• Analyze different systems engineering concepts and align them with knowledge based systems
