Scenario:
For this week's assignment, you work for 504 Technologies as the head IT manager and you oversee all of the other technology departments. The web development department is headed by April Moore, and two of her employees are Joey Sullivan and Kenisha Farmer. They are virtual employees and live in different cities.
While discussing a client's website last week, Joey and Kenisha disagreed about some design features. Kenisha says that the navigation needs to be redesigned and the old Flash files could be replaced using HTML5. Joey thinks the navigation "isn't broken" and it would be easier to simply delete the Flash files rather than replace them. The discussion became tense and they stopped communicating with each other before having a chance to calmly discuss time to make changes, usability of the website, client requests, and other things. Instead of involving April (their immediate manager), both of these employees sent complaints upwards to you, so now it is your responsibility to see an end to the feud.
You have decided to send a memo to April. A phone call might be faster, but the memo will produce documentation of your involvement and what you require of April and her employees.
Light Research:
Find an online source (not a library item and not one that requires login information) that explains some mediation techniques for managers and then pick at least two of the ideas to apply them to the situation.
Write:
In the memo template, insert April's full name in the "to" section, your full name in the "from" section, and appropriate content in the "re" (regarding - a subject line) and "date" sections.
Under the line, provide the following:
In a first brief paragraph, briefly describe why you are writing the memo.
In 2-3 additional paragraphs, explain to April how you would like this situation to be resolved.
Clearly define and explain at least two mediation ideas you gathered from your source.
Include a deadline for resolution.
