The Vice-President of your union formed your Group to research 21st Century alternative strategies, specifically the Organizing Model and Employee Empowerment Unionism. The intent is to take the union from the current business union philosophy to one meeting today's societal and workplace norms.
Your Union represents 2,123 manufacturing employees within the same company at the same location. The Group takes out Budd's Labor Relations textbook. Looking at page 160 and Table 5.1, the Group reviews the current and alternate strategies. After much research and Group members sharing their thoughts on the alternatives, the Group needs to answer these three questions.
Explain the company's unique positioning and what their competitive approach and scope is in order to achieve long-term success.
Define the term 'business'. How has the concept of 'business' over the years? What is the difference between the act of 'doing business' and 'a business'?
What is a strategic business plan? Why is this plan important to an organization's long-term success? What role does innovation play in developing a strategic business plan?
Customer Centric Web Decision-Making. Based with what you have learnt so far, discuss your understanding of this topic and your questions/comments.
Prepare a Global Environmental News Analysis (GENA) Report. Implications for theory (link theories/concepts from text to news item).
Discuss an organization of your choice that has reinvented itself over time with competitors and industry shifts.
Explain what are the most significant leadership trends that require a change in leadership approaches by 2020? What leadership changes will be most important?
Compare and contrast the thinking styles among U.S. culture, Japanese culture, and European culture.
What conditions must be met for a defendant to successfully use the nominative fair use defense?
1. What are the primary advantages of diversity in the workforce? Be specific with a summary of each one. 2. Explain the three (3) main reasons for conducting performance appraisals.
