Problem- Could someone provide me with a reasonable MECHANISM! for the reduction of 3-nitrophthalhydrazide to form Luminol. I do not want the procedure, reagents, reaction scheme. I am seeking the the actual mechanistic pathway that the reaction between sodium dithionite, 10% NaOH solution, and 3-nitrophthalhydrazide with applied heat that will result in the formation of Luminol. I have been unable to find a mechanism online and am unsure of the one that I have proposed. Please help.
