Successful organizations are those that have mastered the decision making process. In order to facilitate this process, there are technologies that specialize in modeling, data mining, and analysis, all in support of better human decision making. Keep in mind that these technologies are not a substitute for human decision making but rather are designed to aid in the process. By doing a search of the internet, or by other research methods, find an example of a company or organization that has chosen to implement a Decision Support System (remember to post references). Here are some questions to ponder:

1) What was the organization’s prime motivation for seeking to improve their decision making process?

2) What deficiencies existed in their current process for decision making?

3) What technologies or systems did they deploy in order to improve the decision making process?

4) From the readings in your text, what type of decision support system closely resembles the one you chose in your case study? Support your answer with details or examples.

5) What managerial level of the organization did this system specifically target? Which departments were targeted? Why?

6) Did better organizational decision making result from this project? If not, what obstacles remained?

7) In the final analysis, what was the business value of improved decision making to this organization?
