Defend or refute the following assertion: in the pentose phosphate pathway, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase and transketolase should be controlled by the level of ATP in the cell. When ATP levels are high, G6P-dehydrogenase is activated and transketolase is inhibited. When ATP levels are low, G6P-dehydrogenase is inhibited and transketolase is activated.
