The FDA recommends that individuals taking the Cox two inhibitor celecoxib should take a drug holiday to decrease the risk associated with this drug. The increase risk associated with the chronic use of cox-2 inhibitors may be attributed to:

1. Gastrointestinal bleeding

2. increased platelet aggregation

3. a hypersensitivity reaction

4. renal insufficiency
