Presently, I work at a community health clinic where we provide comprehensive care to all patients daily, and because it is a clinic, patients come for short visits to see their primary care providers. My previous job was at a skilled nursing facility. We were rotated to nursing homes and hospice care centers at the same facility. There had been many occasions were patients passed away in the hospice unit at the facility. The first day a patient died on my shift was one of the saddest days of my life. This is because I had bonded with her and while I was about checking her vital signs because she had deteriorated, I noticed she took her last breath. I could not sleep for days; I was left thinking about the patient and life after death, and this brought back unpleasant memories about the death of someone dear to me.

In my opinion, Death is the transformation of physical form of an individual into a spiritual one. According to Hoehner, (2022), the souls or spirits of the deceased exist after death and before the resurrection. Incidence like this has changed the way I feel about life, it has become more difficult to accept death as it continues to bring back difficult memories. The bible teaches us that we will meet those that have departed on resurrection day, and this is the only consolation I have.
