1. Summary: What is a summary of this disorder? What are the key concepts of this disorder? Think of it this way: if you were explaining this disorder to someone not familiar with it, what would you say to help them understand it in a complete way?  Be sure you include defining any vocabulary terms that are associated with the disorder.  This section should also include any other information important about the disorder such as statistics, general facts, etc...Remember, cite your sources in APA style. Essentially, this section should include a summary of the diagnostic criteria from section 2 below and some other pieces of background information.  Approx. 200 to 300  words

2. Diagnostic Criteria: What does the DSM-5 list as the criteria needed for diagnosis? Be sure to include all diagnostic criteria that are in the pink box in the same numbered fashion that it is presented in the DSM-5; you may need to scroll down in the pink box to get all the criteria.  (You can access the DSM-5 from the CCP library database - information of how to is below). This information should be word-for-word, cut and pasted from the DSM-5.)  DO NOT include any sections that say "specify...." or anything beyond the criteria listing the symptoms.   Be sure you include the entire pink box though - it scrolls down for many disorders.   Also be sure you are cutting and pasting the criteria for the disorder you are researching; each page will have the criteria for several disorders and students sometimes copy the wrong one.  There is no word count b/c each disorder will vary. Here you cite the DSM-5 in-text and list it on your reference page. 

3. Causes: Discuss and describe - in depth - what the research says are the several possible causes (at least 5) of this disorder. Don't just list them; provide some detail summarizing what each is IN YOUR OWN WORDS.  There should be multiple points made here since many disorders have no exact cause but several theories.  Be specific; for example, do not  just say brain differences - what type of differences?  Where in the brain - what brain parts? What neurotransmitters?  Be sure you include both nature and nurture as factors.  You will need to cite your sources in APA style.  Again, balance the paragraphs so there is space between and not just one long paragraph.  This is where bullet points can be helpful too.
