Findings from a cohort study suggest that cigarette smokers had a higher risk for developing lung cancer compared with never smokers. The relative risk is 9.8 with a confidence interval of (2.0 - 15.0). Do the data support the hypothesis that cigarette smokers had higher risk for developing lung cancer? Why or why not?
