Customer Relations Article Analysis
This short paper is intended to keep you up-to-date on current customer relations issues and trends occurring today. Please utilize current articles as they will allow you to most directly apply your knowledge to what is happening outside the classroom.
Find an appropriate article:
Select and read one current customer relations article from any number of business periodicals, which may include Business Week, Fortune, The Economist, Newsweek, or from a newspaper, such as The Wall Street Journal, the business section of the Washington Post, or Baltimore Sun. An article can also be selected from a reputable news source on the Internet, such as CNN.com.
Use the following as a guideline in completing the article analysis:
- Write an introductory paragraph introducing the article and its main theme. The introduction should also provide a brief and concise summation of the article.
- The summary will give a general description of what information was presented in the article. Depending on your article
- Perform an analysis of how the customer relations topics presented in the article relate to class discussions and/or topics covered in your textbook. Your ability to analyze and synthesize the information presented in the article is critical. Without a well-done analysis, you cannot earn higher than a "C" grade. Make sure to refer directly to the textbook material. For example, "This article focused the subject of transitioning to web-based customer service. The article tracked the process at XYZ company. In Chapter 5 of the textbook, we learned about web-based customer service. It was stated that the company had difficulties because they did not have enough servers to handle the customer traffic."
- a conclusion to your report where you state your opinion about the major issues or concepts presented. Explain why you have the opinion that you do and provide any alternatives or counter-arguments to your beliefs. Think about XYZ company in the example. Do you think web-based customer service is a good thing? Is it necessary? Are there better alternatives? How could the employees be encouraged to give high levels of customer service? Just like with your analysis section, your ability to support your opinion with relevant facts and thoughtfully considered counter-arguments is critical to earning a 'high' grade.
Remember to provide an appropriate bibliographical reference for the article. Properly document the article's title and respective author as well as the periodical or Web site from which it was taken. You should also reference your textbook. Include a separate "References"
