• The assessment tasks for the unit assume that you will work in the Business Services industry. Case studies/ exercises used in this assessment reflect a workplace scenario.
• The student must have access to a Computer, Printer for doing the assessment for this unit. Attempt all the questions. If you are not sure about any aspect of this assessment, please ask for clarification from your assessor. If the assessment is not satisfactory, the trainer will allow one more attempt to the assessment item.
• The responses to assessment questions should be in your own words and examples from workplace should be used wherever possible.
• You are required to interact and communicate with a range of people at your workplace.
• You need to identify suitable professionals who can give you honest feedback and support on innovation.
• You may decide to interview a range of stakeholders from diverse groups including technical and subject matter experts, juniors, seniors, peers and other people whom you perceive to help you in generating new ideas and thinking.
• You can plan a single/ multiple brainstorming session with all stakeholders together or a series of sessions/one to one meeting.
• You must prepare a questionnaire/ agenda for the meeting.
• You must take prior appointment with the people identified by you and ensure to perform this task professionally in a simulated environment or actual workplace.
• You must then analyze the ideas and prepare a report on generating innovative thinking and creativity.

Case Scenario
Select an organization from internet or consider the company/organization where you currently work or know very well. Suppose the organization has been facing business challenges in recent times. Some of issues are loss of market share, staff turnover, customer's complaints and entry of new competitors. CEO of the organization is considering a central strategy to maintain the company's position in the market. She strongly believes ‘Lead innovative thinking and practice' is the only option which can bring the organization back on track.
Now, she advises you (consider you work in that organization) to form a team and prepare a presentation on ‘Innovation and sustainability'. It has been decided that you and your team will present this in the board meeting which is coming up in two weeks time. The CEO has also requested you to prepare a brief written report in MS word format to support your presentation.
Now form a team (two/three) of students and prepare the presentation on the following areas:
1. Brief introduction and the current situation of the organization.
2. Explain how various strategies that are used or can be implemented to make innovation an integral part of organisational activity.
3. How could the organization address the impact of changes and its consequences?
4. Identify monitoring process to confirm individual awareness and collective contributions to innovative thinking and practice.
5. Identify any three (3) potential barriers/risks to innovations and suggest strategies to minimize them.
6. Evaluate the effect of innovation implemented by you and major learnings from it, to form a basis for developing strategies for improvement.
7. How can the organizational change process ensure the objectives, time-frames and communication plans are ready?
8. A contingency management plan and how could the organization manage failure and prompt investigation?
9. Identify few emerging challenges and opportunities (e.g. SWOT analysis) in relation to your chosen organization.
10. How could you evaluate the existing systems and innovative processes? Explain in the light of various costs and benefits & document the recommendations (for improvements) that will be communicated to relevant parties.
Assessment - Project Report and Presentation

Read the following case scenario and prepare a report and a presentation
Scenario
In the assessment item 2 (previous assessment), you were required to write a research report based on selecting a company and at least one product / service that it offers. Now, in this assessment item 3, you are required to analyze and present the findings. In this task, you will act as Research and Development Manager. Assume you are presenting the research brief in front of the management of the selected company from Assessment 2. This is your opportunity to convince them for getting the approval whether to continue with the research or not. The agenda of the meeting is to present your findings, clear the doubts of Operations Manager and CEO about the proposed solution and seek their approval for the full project implementation. Your presentation should include below topics:
1. Give brief description of the research that you undertook for this project. Explain aims of the research, the purpose and context of the project including who initiated the research and who it was for.
2. Provide brief description of the sample used and discuss validity and reliability of data used for the research.
3. Discuss about various instruments used in the research project.
4. Give brief explanation of the procedures followed in the project, data analysis including any threats to the integrity of the data, trends and challenges.
5. Provide description and justification of the statistical techniques or other methods of analysis used.
6. Brief summary of the research question being investigated, the procedures employed, and the results obtained.
7. Describe various findings pertinent to each of the research hypotheses or questions.
8. Explain various implications of the findings and their meaning and significance in the project.
9. Explain various limitations - (unresolved problems, limitations, issues) that you have encountered during the project.
10. Evaluate how research findings such as trends and changes will impact on learning strategy.
11. Prepare list of various documentation done for the project and present research findings in a clear and logical manner consistent with audience needs.
12. Highlight any suggestions for further research that needs to be conducted.
