The group project is about analysis of human resource practices in an organisation of your choice. The project will be completed in groups of 4 students. The topic of analysis must be one human resource management function e.g. staffing (includes recruitment and selection), performance management, training and development, compensation. Topics will be selected by the groups. The report should include the following 3 parts:

1. A brief introduction of the organisation and the human resource management function chosen for study.

2. What are the current policies and practices of your chosen HR function. An analysis of what seems to work and what doesn't seem to work regarding the practice.

3. Discuss the problems/ issues about why some things work and others don't work. What would you recommend to resolve the problems/ issues identified.


The report is due to be submitted on learnonline on or before 21 March by 10 am Adelaide time. Each group will present their study in class on 16 March. Completeness of argument, depth of analysis, and clarity of writing will be evaluated. Evidence of research will be rewarded. 

Mark allocation for the group project: 

Written group report - Weighting 75% (30 marks)
Group presentation - Weighting 15% (6 marks)
Peer evaluation - Weighting10% (4 marks)

An individual’s grade on this assessment may be reduced at the instructor’s discretion if the individual’s contributions, effort, etc. are rated as inadequate. Students will not be penalised for not completing the evaluation. Peer evaluations that are not completed will be considered as missing data.
