Scenario: After his wife died, Greg became overwhelmed with grief. He could not function as his normal self and fell into a deep depression. Although Greg managed to provide the basics (housing, food, and water) for his two children Bobby and Lisa, he did not engage or interact with Bobby often, who was 4 months old at the time. After about a year and a half, Greg was able to find relief from his grief and depression and be more present for his children. However, Bobby is almost two years old now and experiencing some developmental problems that could be directly related to his lack of engagement with his father. Bobby also does not respond to Greg's punishments or rewards when trying to motivate Bobby to potty train. In addition to that, Bobby does not interact often with other children, animals, or other family members. Bobby also does not speak well compared to his peers.
