Question

My patient is presenting in the office today with two weeks of painful small bumps in the genital area. Patient is also stating she has not been feeling well and that she has been very achy and tired. Patient is also stating that it sometimes burns when urinating. On assessment the patients vital signs are within normal limits and lung sounds are clear and bilateral. The nurse would then do a pelvic exam and on examination notes that there is red blisters on patients vaginal area. Some are oozing and others are crusted over. Patient states that she is currently sexually active with one partner and patient was swabbed and culture was set out for confirmation of diagnosis. Pt was educated that this is disease process is not curable and outbreaks will come and go but we can treat this with an antiviral oral pill which is call Valtrex which will help the sores to heal faster and lower the frequency of outbreaks. We will also have to ask her to have her partner get tested as well that way they can start treatment. Can you guess what this disease is?
