Culture is people's way of life. It includes such aspects of social life as, mode of dressing, way of communication, leisure, relation between one individual and another and so on. By the turn of 1920, people in the Native American society began losing touch of their rural isolated lifestyle and embraced new changes that had come along. This included mass culture and movies, automobiles and change of life to a consumer society.

Consumption was the new lifestyle in the 1920's. With the rise of industrialization, companies dealing with food processing grew up. Married women found their household chores simplified due to introduction of various appliances. Single women however spent much of their time working in the industries. Even though women were working in the industries, their wages were low and could not be compared to their male counterpart. For the business enterprises, advertisement took center stage to promote more sales of their products to the consumers.

Automobiles were introduced in the 1920's following scientific inventions pioneered by Frederick Taylor earlier on in 1895. People's lifestyle was affected. Going out for tours on vacations became easier. Job opportunities in the automobile industry were also created not to mention the growth of suburbs that replaced rural lifestyle. This also would lead to increased population in the urban areas with majority of people seeking job opportunities in the industries.

To promote leisure living and amusement, theatres for works of art like music and movies grew up. Jazz music that composed of African- American elements were the most popular. Hollywood movies took over 90% of all the movie production.

Americans across the nation shared a common culture through; the mass media including the radio, magazines, and in theaters. Of worth mentioning was the Columbia Broadcasting system and the National Broadcasting Company.
