The research was aimed at improving the healthcare conditions of the Chinese people. The survey was focused mainly on doctors(Yip & Hsiao, 2008).
Methods
The survey was conducted using questionnaires. The questionnaires were distributed to different doctors at different hospitals were they had to fill all the information asked in the questionnaire. The questionnaires contained a series of healthcare related questions. The questions in those questionnaires were well framed and twisted so as to facilitate dependable answers from the doctors.
Summary of findings
The questionnaires were filled completely by number of 202 doctors. The results showed that low job satisfaction was as a result insufficient income and long working hours. According to the research, the doctors of the provincial level were the most dissatisfied when compared to the doctors of the primary care who were the least dissatisfied.
In addition, a percentage of 3 of the doctors in the high level hospitals as well as a percentage of 27 doctors of the primary care were satisfied with their salaries. On to the contrary, only 7 percent of the doctors in the high level hospitals were satisfied with the work hours.
However, in the in the primary care, a good number of doctors were satisfied with the working hours (Yip & Hsiao, 2008). This was evident through the 43 percent of the doctors who agreed to be satisfied with the working hours.
The doctors in the high level hospitals were not satisfied with the time scheduled for their vacation. According to the doctors of the high level hospitals, the time of vacation scheduled for them was very little. The research also showed that there was increased violence of patients against doctors. Research conducted on the Chinese people showed that there was cultural belief that being a doctor was not a good profession. According to the m doctors were paid badly, the profession was very risky and was often faced with insecurity problems as well as patients violence.
Conclusions
The article concluded that in overall, doctors have little satisfaction in their jobs. In the Chinese culture of healthcare system, recruiting new doctors or even retaining the current doctors has become a big challenge for the healthcare system of china.
This is because there is an existing cultural belief that doctors are paid low wages thus rendering doctors as professional, worthless. We know that doctors are people who are well educated and treated with respect, however, in Chinese culture, it is the opposite of this since they believe that a doctor is a useless profession which does not pay.
Recommendations
The necessary measures must be taken to deal with this problems associated with doctors. A doctor is a person who is well educated and deserves good payment as well as respect from the patients. People need to be educated that doctors are high learned people and very important people in the society who should be respected. In order to attract people to become doctors and like the profession, the long working hours of doctors should be reduced, and their salary increased.
