“Cultural heritage is one of the fundamental differences between humans and other animals. Culture is learned; societies pass on to succeeding generations solutions to problems, constantly building on an expanding the culture so that a wide range of behavior is possible,” (Cateora, Gilly & Graham, 2011, p. 119). Members of society continually learn behaviors from other cultures. McDonalds is a great example! The fast food chain was a huge success in the U.S. Expanding internationally made sense, but McDonalds would have to culturally adapt by providing menu items relatable to their target market. I am traveling to China in April for work and it is my first time. I have been super worried as I am kind of a picky eater. I told some coworkers this week that I would just have a find McDonalds. They all laughed and then explained that it wouldn’t be the McDonalds I was used to. Now I am just super curious to discover all of the differences between offerings at American owned companies in China.
