Cultural beliefs of the underserved population are often in contradiction to medical science. Cultural beliefs of people stop them to seek the timely help of the doctor. Instead, they sought relief from domestic remedies and sometimes from the church. Hence, when they finally go to the doctor their condition has already become advanced. In some cultures, people tend to refuse surgical options for treatment. Such conditions are an ethical dilemma for the healthcare provider because letting the patient die when he can save the patient goes against the ingrained values of the healthcare provider.
