Evidence based practice

Evidence-based practice in the community services setting is crucial for the delivery of treatments and services to clients. It is a process that involves seeking the best way to address the client's needs, identifying the best evidence to answer a question based on these needs, evaluating the efficacy and applicability of the evidence, and analyzing the solution's effectiveness. This process ensures that the services offered to clients are aligned with the needs initially identified. Social workers need to be effective and dynamic in their work. This is achieved through embracing evidence-based approaches when determining the interventions to employ.

By using evidence-based approaches, practitioners in this field can remove bias and critically address new challenges they face with a fresh perspective. The outcome of this includes a high-quality service delivered to clients. The client also becomes an active player in the decision-making process because these approaches include considering the client's preferences. The practitioner also documents the evidence-based practice, which helps in future interventions. The client can also participate in the decision-making process of the interventions, giving them control and a feeling of consideration in their treatment. It also improves the relationship between the practitioner and the client as they work together in deciding the best intervention that prioritizes the client's needs.
