Question

You are involved in a cross-functional team providing information to a due diligence team; your company is being acquired. It comes to your attention that some numbers that have been put forth about the financial condition of your company to the acquirer are incorrect. An honest mistake has been made and you are currently the only person that knows of the error. As you investigate further you find out that the while the mistake is an honest one, the difference to the acquirer is substantial. The due diligence effort has been completed and plans have been made for the closing, set for 4 weeks from now. The integration team members are meeting in earnest. You take your findings to the head of the due diligence team. She is quite upset and annoyed. She thanks you for bringing this to her attention. You hear nothing more; it is now one week to the close. Since you would be involved in preparing corrected figures you suspect nothing has been done with the information you provided.
